PCB has announced the squads for the women's exhibition matches.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday announced two women’s squads for the three exhibition matches of the Women’s League, which will be played before the HBL PSL 8 matches in Rawalpindi on March 8, 10 and 11.

Bismah will captain the formidable Amazon, which includes Ireland’s Laura Delaney, England trio Lauren Winfield-Hill, Maya Bouchier and Tammy Beaumont and Australia’s Tess Flintoff. Nida Dar will lead the Super Women, which will also feature Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapathu, England’s Danny White, Bangladesh’s Jahanara Alam, South Africa’s Laura Wilwardt and New Zealand’s Leah Tahuhu.

This means 10 of the world’s top foreign players from seven countries will be represented in the three matches, billed as the soft launch of the Pakistan Women’s League, which is scheduled for September.

These 10 foreign stars are joined by 20 elite players from Pakistan, four U-19 players who participated in the recently held ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup (Arisha Noor, Ayman Fatima, Shawal Zulfiqar and Syeda Aroob Shah) and Two budding cricketers (Fatima Khan and Syeda Masooma Zahra).

The 36 cricketers are divided equally between the two sides with a playing line-up that includes a maximum of four and a minimum of three foreign players and at least one emerging or under-19 player.

Out of the 10 foreign players, 8 cricketers recently featured in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa with Delaney and Athapatthu captaining Ireland and Sri Lanka respectively.

South Africa’s Laura Woolwaart is one of the biggest stars in women’s cricket. She was selected in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 squad and is the sixth ranked batsman in the world. Similarly, Danny White is one of the recognizable names in women’s cricket after his 1,776 ODI and 2,369 T20I runs. Along with New Zealand’s Suzy Bates, White is the second-most T20I player with 143 matches, eight behind India’s Harmanpreet Kaur.
