Former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Khan has revealed the details behind his fight with Virat Kohli during the tense encounter between the two arch-rivals at the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia. Sohail shed light on the incident during a podcast with popular YouTube star, Nader Ali.

The 38-year-old revealed that a journalist had said before the World Cup match that India had batting stars like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and it would be difficult for them to get them out. He said he respects his achievements, but it won’t be difficult for him to oust him.

Sohail took five wickets in the match, including three-star wickets. Despite his five-wicket haul, Pakistan were on the verge of losing the match after a disappointing batting performance.

The former fast bowler added that when he came in to bat in the second innings, Kohli made some offensive comments at him. He revealed that Kohli had said that he has just come to the international stage and already has a big attitude, to which Sohail replied that he has been playing at a high level since Kohli was in the Under-19 stage.

“Son, when you were playing under-19 cricket, your father was already a Test cricketer,” said Sohail.

Sohail added that Misbah-ul-Haq and MS Dhoni intervened to cool things down. While Misbah told Sohail Khan to keep calm and focus on the game, Dhoni advised Kohli to respect Sohail as he has been playing at the highest level for many years.

He added that due to various injuries in his career, he was unable to make himself a regular part of the national team due to which his momentum derailed and eventually he was dropped from the team.
