Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to highlight the problems of the Muslim Ummah and said that we need immediate restructuring of the debts of 60 financially weak countries and large loans through multilateral development banks and Public-private partnerships should call for mobilizing investment commitments.
According to a report by the official news agency APP, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari hosted the 49th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers Council in Mauritania as the Chairman of the Council and welcomed the participants.

Addressing the meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers Council, he said that we need urgent debt restructuring for 60 financially weak countries, redistribution of unused special drawing rights to developing countries, multilateral development banks. It should call for mobilizing $100 billion in climate financing commitments, in addition to major debt and public-private partnership investments.

The foreign minister said that the international community should play its role to resolve the Kashmir issue.

He said that Pakistan wants a stable and peaceful Afghanistan, peace in Afghanistan is in the interest of the entire region including Pakistan.

He said that Muslims are facing discrimination due to Islamophobia. He is grateful to the United Nations for the International Day against Islamophobia.

He said that the world is currently facing many challenges, foreign occupation and use of force, global arms race, terrorism, extremism and hatred, Islamophobia and racism, growing poverty and environmental problems. There are threats to the world.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that we should protect the overall interests of the Muslim Ummah, as a result of Pakistan’s strong diplomatic efforts, last year the United Nations General Assembly unanimously approved the resolution to celebrate the International Day to Combat Islamophobia. done

He condemned Israel’s cruel actions in the occupied Palestinian territories and said that Palestine is our common problem. The OIC was established after the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He said that OIC member countries should condemn Israeli atrocities and continuous desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He said that we should support the right of Palestinian brothers and sisters to self-determination, they should have their own independent state along the 1967 borders with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari proposed setting up a special task force of experts at the OIC forum to devise a strategy to ensure equal treatment in international finance, trade and tax laws and structures.

He said that after facing the negative effects of covid, inflation, economic disaster in Afghanistan and the consequences of the war in Ukraine, Pakistan was severely damaged by the devastating floods last year.

Referring to the issue of Kashmir, the Foreign Minister said that the UN Security Council has said in its approved resolutions that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be given the opportunity to exercise their right to self-determination through a referendum organized by the United Nations. But India obstructed it.

He said that India is seriously violating human rights in Occupied Kashmir and it is obstructing the implementation of these resolutions.

He said that three years after India’s unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019, it is clear that its campaign of colonial expansion has failed, the people of Kashmir will succeed in their struggle for freedom and self-determination. .

He said that Pakistan will continue to give full political, diplomatic and moral support to the freedom struggle of Kashmiris.

While addressing the meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Council, he expressed hope that the OIC Contact Group would adopt an effective plan of action for the just cause of Kashmir in its meeting.

He said that lasting peace between Pakistan and India is not possible without a solution to the Kashmir issue.

The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan has made all possible efforts to prevent a major humanitarian crisis and economic disaster in Afghanistan.

He said that the OIC should play a role in creating a clear path for peace in Afghanistan so that the Afghan Transitional Government fully respects human rights, especially women’s rights, promotes political inclusion and bans Daesh in the country. Encouragement to fulfill commitments to eliminate the threat of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist groups.

The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan will host the 18th OIC Trade Conference in June this year and is also looking forward to hosting the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women Empowerment at the end of the year.
