The preparations for the elections are going on by the People’s Party and have invited applications from ‘potential’ candidates for issuing tickets for the general elections in Punjab. President Dr. Arif Alvi has announced the date of elections in Punjab on April 30 as per the decision of the Supreme Court.
The PPP has asked the party ticket aspirants to submit their applications with a bank draft of Rs 30,000 by March 8.
This decision was taken after the two-day visit of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to Lahore.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s uncle Faryal Talpur has also directed the divisional presidents of the party in Punjab to submit lists of suitable candidates.
Faryal Talpur said that no electoral alliance will be made with any political party in Punjab, therefore only strong candidates should be fielded in the election.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, PPP Lahore President Aslam Gul said that his party will field strong candidates especially in Lahore, claiming that PPP has 3 ‘strong’ candidates available in each constituency.
