Sajjad Khan would become the eighth member of Porsche’s Executive board if he were to be appointed as the company’s board member for Car IT, according to a recent announcement from Porsche. Khan has experience in the car sector and served as Mercedes’ ‘Tech Chief’ when they were a rival company.
Although there is no set schedule for joining, the Porsche Supervisory Board has stated that he may do so as soon as he is available. “We strongly believe that the anticipated enlargement of our Executive Board will further encourage the successful development of our company,” said Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, chairman of the Porsche AG Supervisory Board.
The Chairman of the Executive Board also gave a statement about the appointment and said that “We look forward to being able to welcome Sajjad Khan, a proven digital expert, to the Board and thereby strengthen our IT team in a critical position. Our industry is experiencing the greatest transformation in its history. We laid the strategic groundwork very early on. Our focus now is on implementation, which we want to continue to drive forward together with Sajjad Khan”.
Khan, a bright 48-year-old who worked for Mercedes for more than six years till 2021, is renowned throughout the world for his brilliance in the automotive sector. Khan worked as the Chief Technology Officer for the Mercedes-Benz automobile division during his final years at Mercedes, where he oversaw initiatives in connectivity, autonomy, shared & services, and electric. Khan formerly served as vice president at BMW, where he oversaw the company’s global connected driving initiatives from 2011 to 2015.
Khan, who was born and reared in Pakistan but holds German citizenship, has worked primarily in Germany.
