The Balochistan government has ordered the reactivation of speed trackers in Quetta-Karachi buses after 41 people were killed last week. This decision was issued on Wednesday during a meeting presided over by the provincial transport secretary Mohammad Siddique Mandukhel.
Referring to the instructions of the meeting, a report from Don’s He added that operators who do not activate the trackers will face punishment. Additionally, permits of non-compliant operators and speeding buses will be canceled by the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP).
On Wednesday, the Quetta-Karachi passenger coach owners staged an indefinite strike against “unnecessary checking and atrocities against drivers and passengers” at the check post in Hub district.
They parked their vehicles in front of the Coast Guard check posts on the Quetta-Karachi highway and refused to end the strike until the check posts were removed. In the press conference, the officials of Quetta-Karachi Coaches Union threatened to stop the bus service if their demands were not met.
