Rolex introduces Yacht-Master 42 timepiece made of RLX titanium

Rolex recently introduced the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 – a master time piece made from RLX titanium.

The recently launched Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 crafted from RLX titanium is both lightweight and durable, making it the perfect companion for individuals who value unrestricted mobility.

Rolex has released the Yacht-Master 42, its second timepiece in RLX titanium, following the Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge. This reaffirms the brand’s commitment to prioritizing lightness as a key quality in their products.

The Yacht-Master collection now features the RLX Titanium for the first time. Rolex has chosen a Grade 5 titanium alloy to create this lightweight metal, known for its impressive mechanical strength and resistance to corrosion.

By using this material for both the case and bracelet, the weight of the watch has been reduced by about one-third compared to a similar steel watch. However, the complexity of working with RLX titanium has led to the implementation of specialized production processes.

The Yacht-Master 42 is a testament to Rolex’s mastery of finishing techniques, with a masterful combination of a polished high-sheen and technical satin finish. The resulting interplay of texture and light highlights the polished surface of the crown guard and the glossy high gloss on the top edges of the lugs, which contrast with the clear grain of the technical satin finishing seen on both the case and bracelet.

Similar to the original 2019 model, this new version features bi-directional rotatable bezels in matte black ceramic with Cerachrom inserts. Bezel features embossed and polished numerals and graduations, with the first 15 minutes calibrated minute-by-minute for precise time intervals. Additionally, the beveled edge of the bezel provides a secure grip for easy turning.

The Yacht-Master 42’s Oyster bracelet is crafted from RLX titanium, with a technical satin finish that extends to the edges of the links and the Oysterlock safety clasp cover.

The bracelet’s EasyLink comfort extension link enables the wearer to easily adjust the length by approximately 5 mm. Additionally, ceramic inserts inside the links enhance the bracelet’s flexibility and durability when worn on the wrist.
