The Perpetual 1908 by Rolex embodies the brand’s enduring spirit of adventure, a seamless fusion of elegance, classicism and modernity. It pays tribute to the brand’s rich heritage while also showcasing its innovative advances in watchmaking.
This watch represents an important milestone in the company’s quest for perfection. The design and development of watches is testament to Rolex’s extensive in-house knowledge and expertise.
Drawing inspiration from the Oyster Perpetual of 1931, this new creation meets Rolex’s standards for a slim watch and introduces the Perpetual collection, which embodies the brand’s avant-garde philosophy by re-imagining the traditional wristwatch.
The name of the watch, “1908,” honors the official registration date of the “Rolex” trademark in Switzerland.
The 1908 exemplifies classic style with contemporary flair. The dial exudes elegance and refinement, showcasing faceted hour markers made of 18 ct yellow or white gold against a deep black or glossy white background.
Protected by a domed sapphire crystal, the dial features a delicate “railroad” minute track encircling the perimeter. The minute hand of the clock is shaped like a double-edged sword, and the hours are marked by a hand with a circle with a hole in it.
Crafted in 18 ct yellow or white gold, the ultra-slim case of the 1908 timepiece is adorned with a transparent case back, allowing a glimpse into the timepiece’s intricate movement and finishing details.
Crafted in 18 ct yellow gold, the oscillating weight is cut-out to create a visually appealing effect, and the movement boasts the distinctive Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration – an interpretation of a traditional watchmaking decoration, one between each band Enhanced with polished grooves. By incorporating a sapphire transparent case back, Rolex demonstrates its innovative spirit while remaining true to its watchmaking heritage.
Powering the 1908 watch is caliber 7140, a new self-winding movement developed entirely in-house by Rolex engineers. This slim movement has two central hands and a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock and is the subject of five patent applications.
It is equipped with a Siloxy hairspring, Chronergy escapement and Paraflex shock absorbers, ensuring exceptional chronometric performance with a precision of -2/+2 seconds per day. The movement also offers an impressive power reserve of approximately 66 hours.
The new DualClasp for the 1908 watch is crafted from 18 ct yellow or white gold and designed to accommodate the shape of the wrist and provide exceptional wearing comfort. Composed of two folding, symmetrical blades, the DualClasp alligator leather strap ensures a smooth opening and closing mechanism while ensuring the secure closure of the strap۔
