Former Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has explained the role of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the development of the game of cricket in the country.
Speaking in a podcast organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sarfaraz said that the league has proved to be a platform that showcases talent in the country.
The Quetta Gladiators captain added that the PSL has allowed emerging talent to learn how to deal with camera and crowd pressure, which is crucial in international cricket.
The wicketkeeper-batsman said that the league has now become a brand, which has attracted many famous cricketers from around the world, and everyone pays attention to these cricketers.
Referring to the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Sarfraz said that most of the players in the national squad for the event were PSL products.
Be it Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan or Ruman Raees, these guys were performing well in domestic cricket and were picked by the PSL franchises, Sarfraz said. Admitted
Sarfraz said that in PSL these players proved their skills and made a place in the team. “Therefore, the league’s contribution to the development of cricket in the country is huge,” he concluded.
Notably, Sarfraz, who is the only player to captain his franchise in all seasons, will lead Quetta Gladiators in the eighth edition of PSL.
